We Remember...
As part of Listen Locally: The 115th Anniversary Season, The Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall is proud to present: We Remember: A Concert to Celebrate the Inner Life of Anne Frank.
This Sunday afternoon concert pairs contralto Daphne Alderson and Pianist Norma Meyer in their moving musical tribute to the young girl whose indomitable spirit survived and soared beyond her death in a Nazi concentration camp in 1945. Deeply informed by Anne Frank's remarkable and beloved "The Diary of a Young Girl" as well as the eternal reverberations of the Holocaust, this carefully cultivated performance incorporates compositions by Gustav Mahler, Leo Smit, Michael Cohen, Harry Burleigh, and Pittsburgh composer Douglas Levines musical setting of Maya Angelous poem "Alone".
A dessert reception with the performers follows the concert. Complimentary shuttle service will be available from the Carnegie Municipal Lot on Main Street (between Mary and Pine Streets).
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and $5 for students.
Complementary community programming of "The Diary of Anne Frank" is being developed as a precursor to this tribute performance. Stay updated on upcoming events at www.carnegiecarnegie.org
This concert made possible by the generosity of the A.W. Mellon Educational and Charitable Trust of The Pittsburgh Foundation.
