People's Natural Gas Presents: The Early Mays
The Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall welcomes The Early Mays as the capstone event of its 10th Annual Civil War Living History Day program. The ACFL&MH is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Grand Army of the Republic (Civil War veteran's group), 110 years of the Captain Thomas Espy Posts residency at the ACFL&MH, and the Library & Music Halls 115th year of service and programming.
The Early Mays burst on to the folk music scene in 2014 with a #2 debut on the National Folk-DJ charts and the WYEP Artist of the Year award. Rhythmic, evocative, dark and wistful, their Appalachian-inspired folk songs are built on deep country sensibilities, masterful ballad singing and a sweet old-time sound.
The Mays will present a program of traditional American fiddle tunes and ballads, early country songs (and flatfoot dance!); featuring gorgeous vocal harmonies, award-winning fiddle playing, banjo, guitar and harmonium.
Seating is general admission. In celebration of our Civil War programming, all tickets to hear this outstanding ensemble are priced at the very special rate of $5. It is advised to purchase tickets in advance. Complimentary shuttle service is available. Pick up location for this event located in the Citizen's Bank parking lot located at Chartiers Avenue and West Main Street in Carnegie. Look for the little yellow bus!
Civil War Programming at the ACFL&MH is made possible through the generosity of the Massey Charitable Trust.
