RAMON & JESSICA (SF), WE ARE THE WEST (LA)

Ramon & Jessica, a boy-girl duo from San Francisco, write deceptively simple songs on the edge of folk and pop. On their exquisite early albums, Ramon & Jessica and Handyman's Honeymoon, violinist Dina Maccabee and multi-instrumentalist Jesse Olsen achieved an uncanny lockstep with sophisticated harmonies, bold arrangements and subtle lyrics. With their third album Fly South they have produced their closest collaboration yet, working their signature toy piano and Casio keyboards into a rich texture provided by a number of the Bay Area's finest musicians.

We Are The West began in the east. The upright bass, guitar/voice duo has performed and recorded in storm drains and shipping containers, Brooklyn lofts and haylofts, sheep farms and abandoned convents, beneath the autumn leaves of western New York and in the green heart of Holland. Now, back in California, they perform in a monthly concert series, which they host the Saturday before each full moon in the underground parking garage of an office building in Los Angeles.
