DEAD HANDS DIG DEEP - PA Premiere
Cinedelphia Film Festival presents DEAD HANDS DIG DEEP (Philadelphia Premiere) (2016, 75 min, Dir. Jai Love)
Known more for their violent onstage antics than their musical contributions, notorious 90s shock metal act Kettle Cadaver ripped through the extreme metal underground on a wave of violence and self-mutilation that would make your average metalhead run for the hills. Armed with razor wire, knives, animal carcasses, hammers and nails, frontman Edwin Borsheim enthusiastically desecrated his flesh to the delight of his blood-thirsty audience, and the displeasure of numerous police departments. After years of isolation, Edwin emerges from the shadows of his desert compound to discuss his life, philosophy, and the lost love that drove him further into madness. Graphic archival footage, intimate home videos, and interviews with those closest to him collide to paint a haunting portrait of an artist driven by misanthropy, and hellbent on self-destruction.
DEAD HANDS DIG DEEP is the ferocious feature debut of 19 year-old Australian Jai Love, whose unflinching documentary instantly earns its spot among some of the best of its type. Fans of Terry Zwigoffs CRUMB and Todd Phillips HATED: GG ALLIN AND THE MURDER JUNKIES wont want to miss this intense exploration into the truly unsettling and disturbed world of Edwin Borsheim. Everyone else, proceed with caution.
Screens with: "The House is Innocent" (13 min, Dir. Nicholas Coles) An eccentric couple attempt to change the reputation of their new home, once the site of a series of grisly murders.
