CHIC-A-GO-GO LIVE TAPING AT PHILAMOCA
Cinedelphia Film Festival presents CHIC-A-GO-GO LIVE TAPING + RETROSPECTIVE
PhilaMOCA is oh so proud to host a live taping of Chicago's favorite public access dance party Chic-A-Go-Go! Following the taping, creator Jake Austen and host Miss Mia will screen and discuss highlights from the shows 20 year history.
Created in 1996 by Roctober magazine editor Jake Austen, Chic-A-Go-Go takes its inspiration from well known dance shows such as Soul Train and American Bandstand, as well as Chicagos classic Kiddie-A-Go-Go program. Since its inception the show has hosted an impossible number of notably diverse bands including punk pioneers (The Cramps, The Germs, The Slits), rock legends (Blue Cheer, King Diamond, ? and the Mysterians), alternative heroes (Frank Black, Jesus Lizard, Sonic Youth), and outsider champions (Hasil Adkins, Daniel Johnston, Wesley Willis). 20 years and over 2000 bands later and the show is just as hip as ever. Families and children are encouraged to attend, preferably in costumes of their liking.
Doors at 2, taping at 2:30, retrospective at 3:30.
