Black Box Baroque presents Handel's Alcina
Alcina, a powerful sorceress, is an expert in the art of seduction: she attracts men to her enchanted island and holds them captive. But with the handsome knight Ruggiero, the seductress is finally seduced. When Ruggieros beloved fiancée Bradamante comes to save him, which woman will prevail?
Following the successes of Orlando in 2014 and Ariodante in 2015, Black Box Baroque presents Alcina, completing our Handel trilogy based on Ariostos Orlando Furioso. This is one of Handels greatest operas, written in 1735 at the height of his expressive powers.
The opera will be fully-staged with chamber orchestra. For more information about the cast, crew, and orchestra, visit our website.
While there is street parking near EXIT Theatre, we recommend taking public transit. The theater is less than two blocks from the Powell Street Station.
