The year was 2006: layered tank tops were trendy, Pirates of the Caribbean II hit the theaters, Pluto was downgraded to a dwarf planet, and a group of women came together to create Sketch Comedy. By Women. For Everyone. They christened themselves broadminded and performed at the inaugural Milwaukee Comedy Festival. Ten years later, the broads continue to delight audiences by writing, directing and performing original sketch comedy.
In honor of those ten years, they will tour Milwaukee, visiting some of their previous performance venues and playing some of their greatest hits - ie favorite sketches selected by their fans. Tour dates so far are:
April 29-30, 7:30 pm, Alchemist Theatre, 2569 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53207
May 20-21, 7:30 pm, ComedySportzs Farina Arena, 420 S. 1st St, Milwaukee, WI 53202
June 17-18, 7:30 pm, Tenth Street Theatre, 628 N. 10th St., Milwaukee, WI 53233
Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door; a 6-pack of advance tickets is $60. Online sales close two hours before showtime. After this time, tickets will only be sold at the door. Cash only at the door. Credit card purchases must be made online through Brown Paper Tickets.
Interesting things pertaining to the broads and the number 10:
1. Stacy and her husband dated for 10 years before they got married,
2. Annes high school softball jersey number was 10,
3. Melissa has lost her purse 10 times (recovered all 10 times, sometimes empty),
4. Megan has lived in 10 different apartments in Milwaukee,
5. At 10, Stacy wanted to be both a Navy Aviator and President of the United States,
6. Melissa has owned 10 various cell phones,
7. Megan speaks 10 languages (well, she can say at least one word in 10 languages),
8. Stacy lived on the 10th floor her freshman year of college,
9. In 10th grade, Anne did a dance routine to Everybody Dance Now,
10. The broads argued about this list for 10 minutes.
