Neo/Classical II: CHAI Collaborative Ensemble Presents Music Mozart & Stravinsky
As a continuation of CHAI Collaborative Ensemble's exploration of Classical and Neoclassical Era works performed side by side, this iteration of "Neo/Classical" features instrumental and vocal chamber works of Mozart and Stravinsky. Like chocolate and mint, peanut butter and jelly, or any two complementary flavors of your choice, the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Igor Stravinsky simply go together. So much so that we would be remiss to not pair these two heavyweight composers, whose work is still influential in their own ways.
Works of Mozart featured will be Quartet in D Major for Flute and Strings, as well as his Oboe Quartet; his Piano Quintet with Winds; and, last but not least, "Per questa bella mano," a glorious concert aria written for bass-baritone and obbligato bass. From Stravinsky, audiences will hear his Three Songs from William Shakespeare, as well as his Septet for winds and strings.
Kirsten Alfredsen, bassoon James Brinkmann, flute Alex Ellsworth, cello Andy Frickle, horn Allison Gessner, oboe Pascal Innocenti, violin Dominic Johnson, viola Sara Litchfield, mezzo-soprano Brian Locke, piano Erin Miesner, clarinet Sara Neilson, bass Laura Perkett, oboe Jay Pike, viola Leo Radoslavjevic, bass-baritone Chris Ramaekers, conductor
In addition to this lovely performance, price of admission will include a post-performance reception of wine and hors d'oeuvres. We look forward to seeing you there!
