Cameron Cooke Quartet
"Jazz is the type of music that can absorb so many things and still be jazz," - Sonny Rollins
Cameron Cook is a tenor saxophonist, composer and bandleader from Chapel Hill, NC. After graduating from UNC Chapel Hill in 2015, Cook has been busy in the Triangle music scene, playing with a variety of groups, spanning a number of genres from jazz to funk, folk rock and even Appalachian-klezmer folk. A principal goal of the Cameron Cook Trio is to recognize traditional jazz tunes and forms while also incorporating new ideas and emphasizing the importance of taking the audience on a journey through music. For this show, Cook is joined by the talented Doug Largent, who will be performing on bass as well as organ, and the swinging Donovan Cheatham, a recent graduate of the prestigious NCCU Jazz program.
