Roller Derby Clinic with Sarah Hipel - Hosted by the Detroit Derby Girls
Detroit Derby Girls will be hosting another clinic that will be taught by Sarah Hipel.
This clinic will cater to intermediate to advanced skaters.
Intermediate Skaters have passed the minimum skills test and might have experience playing inter- and intra- league games. They are comfortable on their skates, understand the rules and can execute common strategies.
Advanced skaters are all of the above and have a good deal of experience playing inter-league games and are on a travel A or B team.
Due to insurance rules and such, you must be 18 to attend on skates. 18 and under skaters can purchase a spectator pass. Write notes, ask questions, and take information back with you!
This clinic has also been changed to CO-ED!
*Please note that if you are not comfortable skating co-ed, you will not be forced to do so. For those women or men who would prefer not to, drills and scrimmage will be managed accordingly.
All skaters must have WFTDA, USARS, CRDA, or MRDA insurance.
Weekend passes will be $150.
One day passes will be $80. (You will miss out on a day of the clinic - each day will be different!)
Spectator Passes will be $45 for the weekend or $30 per day.
You will need insurance - WFTDA/USARS/MRDA/CRDi.
About Sarah Hipel
Sarah Hipel believes in an open approach to playing, leading, and learning the sport of roller derby while loving the fun of roller skating itself. After a decade in the sport she has refined her approach to an ethos of freely sharing everything she knows while trying to absorb all that she can. Sarah sees our sport as constantly evolving and derives enjoyment from playing with both game theory and skating skills.
Sarah has continuously held a roster spot on a top 10 team and played in 13 WFTDA Big 5 tournaments, first with the Detroit Derby Girls then with the Texas Rollergirls where she served roles as a Captain and a Coach of the Texecutioners. She is one of the most experienced players in the game and continues to develop cross training techniques, coaching, and the skills and strategy of the sport itself. Sarah has held major roles in the WFDTA and her home leagues. She also owns and operates Faster Skates
