Songwriters on Stage
Each month, the Maine Songwriter's Association presents Songwriters on Stage, a showcase of some of the best songwriters Maine has to offer. The show features three seasoned performers and an emerging songwriter to kick the evening off. It's an opportunity for listeners to discover new music or come hear local favorites in one of the best listening rooms in Maine. The March concert features Griffin Sherry, Monique Barrett, Tom Douglas, and Carolyn Fernald.
Griffin Sherry Griffin Sherry is a songwriter born and raised in rural Maine. He has gained recognition as a member of Portland based band Ghost of Paul Revere. His songs are often stories, both personal and fictitious, and sung with a fury and passion reminiscent of early American troubadours.
Monique Barrett With a unique soul-folk sound, a powerful voice, and an organic, yet well-honed, songwriting style she has firmly established herself as a force in Portland, Maine's flourishing music community. Moniques most recent album, Steps, was released in 2014.
Tom Douglas A seasoned veteran of the New Jersey music scene, Tom has been writing, recording and performing his own music since he was a teenager, with three solo recordings to his credit. Since moving to Maine in 2004, Tom has enjoyed the opportunity to play many different types of music with some of Maines finest musicians, from folk, blues and R&B to hip hop and everything in between.
Carolyn Fernald Carolyn Fernald is a Portland singer-songwriter who uses her personal experience to craft stories about love, loss, dive bars and rusty cars. She has played at lots of venues around Southern Maine including One Longfellow Square and the St. Lawrence Theater, but her favorite place to play is around any campfire, after the kids have gone to bed.
