AMERICANS WE: People and Patriots (Folk-songs and Patriotic Anthems)
Experience an unforgettable cultural event this Sunday afternoon with the Estes Park Music Festival. Journey with us and be captivated by the mesmerizing performance of vocal and piano artists, Fred and Audrey Peterbark; along with piano accompaniment by Joshua Horsch. Experience their program of Americans We: People and Patriots (folksongs and patriotic anthems). About the musicians: Frederick A. Peterbark holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan, along with a Teachers Certificate for grades K-12. Previously, Fred served as Assistant Dean for Recruitment and Outreach for the College of Music at the University of Colorado Boulder. (2008-2015) As an educator, Fred has given presentations at both state and national conference/conventions, including the National Association of Schools of Music Annual Meeting, National Association of College Admissions Counselors Annual Conference, the Colorado Music Educators Association Clinic-Conference and the Nebraska Music Educators Association Conference/Clinic. Fred continues to find time and opportunities to perform. As a recitalist, he has been featured as an Estes Park Music Festival Artist and at the Helena Choral Week (Montana). In addition, he has toured internationally with the Cornerstone Chorale and Brass (Southeast USA, 2005), and Musikanten (Baltic States, 2009; Austria/Slovakia, 2011). Freds operatic and oratorio performances have been highlighted with performances of Lensky in Tchaikovskys Eugene Onegin, Monastatos in Mozarts Die Zaubeflöte, Pasék in Janáceks The Cunning Little Vixen, Brother Bates in the Restoration Premier of James P. Johnsons De Organizer, Evangelist and Tenor Soloist in J. S. Bachs St. Matthew Passion and Tenor Soloist in Ralph Vaughn Williams Serenade to Music. Currently, he serves as the Assistant Dean for Recruitment and Diversity at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and is Executive Producer of Peterbark Productions, LLC.
Audrey Peterbark is an accomplished pianist and an equally stunning soprano. Ms. Peterbark has been a soloist with the Morman Choir of Washington, DC under the direction of Mr. David Hardin and the Alfred Street Trinity Choir under the direction of Dr. Joyce Garrett. She has been a guest soloist singing at the Moving Forward Inaugural Ball and has been a guest performer in many other performances throughout Northern Virginia . Audrey holds a Master of Music degree and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance & Pedagogy, with a minor in voice studies from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey, where she studied with Ingrid Clarfield, Margaret Cusak and Laura BrooksRice. While at Westminster, Ms. Peterbark was a member of the Jubilee Singers under the direction of Dr. J. Donald Dumpson, and was frequently featured as a vocal soloist and accompanist. In addition Ms. Peterbark was a member of the Grammy Award winning Westminster Symphonic Choir. Joshua Horsch is a conductor and pianist based in Boulder, CO. Joshuas recent positions include Assistant Conductor/Pianist/Vocal Coach for Opera Saratogas 2015 and 2016 seasons, Assistant Conductor/Rehearsal Pianist for Fort Worth Opera, and Assistant/Cover Conductor for the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. At the University of Colorado, Joshua serves as Music Director for the Opera Theatre Singers and Assistant Conductor for CUs Eklund Opera program. Joshuas other recent positions have included Assistant Chorus Master for the Colorado Music Festival, Conductor/Pianist for the Newport Music Festival, and staff Music Director/Conductor for the Boston Opera Collaborative. Joshuas guest and workshop conducting includes work with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Omaha Symphony, the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra and Chorus, the Lyatoshinsky Chamber Orchestra of Kiev, and the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra. Mr. Horsch has studied with eminent conductors Marin Alsop, Gustav Meier, Helmuth Rilling, Larry Rachleff, Gary Lewis, and Nicholas Carthy. Joshua is a candidate for a DMA in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Colorado and holds a MM in Orchestral Conducting from the Pennsylvania State University and a BM in Piano Performance from Ithaca College.
