The ReEntry Theatre Program presents: Dreams and Nightmares
Dreams and Nightmares: Do What You Always Did, Get What You Always Got Friday, March 25 & Saturday, March 26 7:30 Hangar Theatre FREE
An evening of short plays by members of Civic Ensemble's ReEntry Theatre Program. Participants work for 8 weeks to write plays about their life experiences. Those plays are performed as staged readings with participants acting alongside professional actors.
Both performances are followed by a discussion with the playwrights. Saturday nights' performance will also have a reception with food.
The ReEntry Theatre Program is an opportunity for participants, who have been incarcerated at some point in their lives, to collaborate and create theatre over an eightweek span. The program gives participants an opportunity to gain skills in writing, collaboration, theatrical expression, and leadership.
The ReEntry Theatre Program is a project of the Ultimate ReEntry Opportunity (URO), a collective impact process in Tompkins County coordinated by the Multicultural Resource Center. The URO was established in 2014 as a partnership movement between private and public sectors to transform and optimize the process of reentry and reduce the risk of rearrest and reincarceration.
About Civic Ensemble: Civic Ensemble is a nonprofit theatre company serving Ithaca and Tompkins County that produces new plays by or about women and people of color, reimaginings of classics, and communitybased plays that explore and explode the social, political, and cultural issues of our time. Through the production of plays, afterschool and inschool education programs for young people, and civic engagement programs with Ithaca community members, the company works to bring audiences of different races, classes, and experiences together in a public forum on the American experiment.
