S H A R O N . E B E R H A R D T ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Squeaker"
Squeaker is usually quiet, doesnt usually go to museums, would never get asked out by the cute guy in her freshman art history class. Today, at the museum, the cute guy is next to her and an abstract painting is in front of her. Does she tell him what she really thinks about the painting, or sacrifice artistic truth for a chance of sex?
M A R G A . G O M E Z ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Latin Standards"
In 1996 Marga and her soon to be ex girlfriend enter the New York offices of NPR where Marga is to be interviewed about her father's career by the legendary Terry Gross. Just before Marga goes on air to honor her father's memory, and become "NPR Famous," she gets dumped. Marga remains in shock and squanders her entire twenty minute public radio interview on girl trouble. As she looks back on that day, her father's stories of Cuba, showbiz and the American dream comes to life.
Latin Standards is Marga Gomez's 12th solo show and has been developed in San Francisco at Brava Theater, The Marsh and Solo Sundays.
K E V I N . R O L S T O N ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Deal with the Dragon"
Hunter Keegan's cell phone is on fire. That can only mean one thing: his roommate lost his temper.....again.At least this time it was an object and not a person that got scorched. The guy means well (we think). He only wants the best for Hunter (he says). He wants to help Hunter prepare for his first job interview which is early tomorrow morning. But the longer he hangs around in Hunter's room, the more it becomes clear that he's more than just charming. He's positively bewitching. Is he a father figure? A really overzealous art patron? A co-dependent sugar daddy? Or is he actually a dragon?
M A R I O N . L O V I N G E R ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "To be or not to be, telle est la question"
Until she had to memorize the famous Hamlet monologue, Marions essential question was: To dye or not to dye? and she considered suffering as an inconvenience to medicate. But the surprising appeal of those centuries old lines opened a can of worms. If Hamlet had taken an anti-depressant, would everyone in the story die at the end? Would there even be a story? When the title is a question, you can expect more questions.
