Meck-Grand Rounds-Medications Commonly Prescribed for Substance Use Disorders
Cardinal Innovations will hold monthly Grand Rounds series, replacing the previous Lunch and Learn. It will be available via TeleCONNECT at all COCs and Corporate for all clinically-oriented staff (Clinical Operations, Community Programs, Community Partners, Medical, Network and Quality Management as indicated).
Staff will need register prior to the event. Please be on time for each training event. Anyone arriving 15 minutes late, will not be allowed to enter Grand Rounds.

The treatment approach for substance use disorders is comprised of multiple service components. This review will focus on medications used in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies. Medications can reduce the withdrawal symptoms and craving and associated with substance use. The pharmacology of receptor specific agonist, partial agonist, and antagonist medications will be discussed. Key points of recently approved medications along with current studies and best practices of older medications will be reviewed for alcohol, opioid, and tobacco substance use disorders.
