Coriolanus- Presented by The Rogues of CST
Coriolanus is firmly devoted to an old order and hates the changes that are happening in Rome. He believes that the people should be governed by the nobility who, in his opinion, are wiser and know whats best for them. (like big government!) Coriolanus is also Romes greatest hero in battle and has fought many times against his greatest adversary, Aufidius, the commander of an invading horde. When Coriolanus wins more territory for Rome in a great battle, his mother urges him to accept a nomination to represent the people in the senate. However, since he has so disdained the people in public, his bid for a senate seat is shouted down and he is banished from his city in the ensuing brawl. He decides to teach them all a lesson by joining the opposition. He offers his services to the dark side and this action eventually spells his doom. This production is set a long time ago in a galaxy far far away With jedi knights, elegant nobility, invading barbarians and light sabre battles, it is sure to be an exciting adventure for audiences young and old. Appropriate for audiences of 5 and up. The Rogues are the teenage division of The Children's Shakespeare Theatre. Many of them have been doing Shakespeare plays for 6 years or more and are very accomplished young Shakespeareans! For more info on the company, see our website: www.childrensshakespeare.org
