The Black Dog Arts Coalition presents Theatre Black Dogs production of Patrick Meyers' K2
Patrick Meyers' impacting drama, K2, is the story of two high altitude ice climbers, Harold and Taylor, best friends, who, after reaching the mountain's summit on the world's second highest and one of the most dangerous mountains in the world, survive a twenty foot fall, to be stranded on a  27,000 foot icy ledge. Harold has suffered a broken leg and Taylor is desperate to save them both. He soon discovers they only have one rope and the race is on in the "dead zone", where every minute counts. The play begins in a light hearted vein between the two friends, but soon becomes life changing for them both, as they realize the peril of their situation  and the "consequences" of  taking on one of the world's most challenging mountains. As their situation escalates, they begin  to examine their lives with riveting  honesty and introspection, fighting the high altitude's challenges to mind and body. Raul E. Peyret of Bellevue, plays Taylor, a disillusioned, assistant district attorney and Harold, a mystical physicist and family man, is played by Rich Payne of issaquah.  Both men are pitted against each other and the mountain for the hardest decision of their lives. In the span of Meyers' play, the audience will be taken on an exploration by the two men, of the meaning of life, and what has to be done in the name of friendship and survival. The play is directed by Susan Bradford, and Assistant  Directed by Patti Darchuk, both of Issaquah. Set Design and Construction by Bob Hise of Snoquamie. The play runs  February 26th through March 11th; Fridays and Saturdays, one matinee March 6th at 4pm, no show on Friday,  March 4.
