Laughing at Cancer
"Laughing at Cancer" is Pointless Brewery & Theatre's fundraising event to raise money for cancer research. Tori Tomalia, co-founder of Pointless, received the devastating diagnosis of stage IV lung cancer in May of 2013. After months of chemotherapy, a genetic test revealed the mutation that is driving her cancer (called ROS1) and she is now able to manage her cancer with cutting-edge targeted pills that work directly on this mutation.
March 19th will be Tori's 40th birthday, and what better way to celebrate than to raise funds to support more innovative treatments like this.
There will be an "all-ages" show at 7 pm, and an adults-only show at 9 pm. Both shows will feature Tori telling stories about her experiences that might make you laugh and might make you cry, and the League of Pointless Improvisers who might make you laugh until you cry. Either way, there is certain to be laughing, possibly crying. There will also be a special beer brewed just for the occasion, and a silent auction.
The money raised will go toward a special ROS1 fund at the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation. These funds are earmarked for a new study focused on ROS1 driven cancers. This is an exciting, innovative, and patient-driven endeavor, and one that will directly help Tori and people like her.
I hope you will join us! If you can't attend the show, please consider making a donation to this fundraiser.
