Every month, a local musician is interviewed and performs their original music. Having listened closely, the comedians from local improv group The Local Music Scene then take the words and themes brought up through the songs and interview and use them as the inspiration for improvised scenes.
The Local Music Scene is Janelle Blasdel, Liz Council, Luke Gonnella, Jeff Gyllen, Gubby Kubik, Erik Nielsen, Will Roberts, Ali Rose, and Philip Simondet. They are an improv group that has trained and performed at various local improv theater, including The Brave New Workshop Student Union, CSz Twin Cities - Home of ComedySportz, HUGE Theater, and Jesters Comedy Improv. All of them either ARE local musicians or enjoy local music. At the VERY least, they've heard the term "local music."
March guest: Jen Strick is a local singer/songwriter from Minneapolis/St. Paul. Jens influences range from folk-rock icons such as Bob Dylan and Paul Simon to more contemporary voices such as Ingrid Michaelson and First Aid Kit. Jen has performed her solo work at Trotters Café, The St. Paul Art Crawl, The Northeast Coffee Shop, Chatterbox Pub and Plums Bar. Jen also enjoys reading, hiking and playing with her cat.
