Hank and Rita return to Bryant-Lake Bowl for another troubled night. The title characters upbeat, love-drenched tunes hit a brief sweet spot in the 1970s. But that was 15 years and countless scandals ago. Venues and audiences have grown smaller and tonight theyre in their smallest gig yet. A bowling alley, no less. It's also Ritas last night her goodbye letter awaits Hank after the show. Ritas finished with the whole act, which includes their marriage.
A bit into the show, a request sends them off their perky set list and into stark, inconvenient memories. Soon theyre requesting songs of each other, songs evoking heartache, anger, revenge, lust and hope.
