Event
Slow Food Russian River Poultry Day
We will begin at Valhalla Gardens with a light breakfast of fresh farm eggs, with a taste comparison to store bought.
We will then head off to Frizelle Enos in Sebastopol for a discussion on the purchase and care of chicks, materials needed for coops etc. Next we will take a short walking tour of some downtown Sebastopol backyard coops as well as tour Felton Acres, a small scale chicken farm.
We will end our field day back at Valhalla Gardens with a chicken barbecue, prepared by Tony Ferrari and Jonathan Sutton of the Hillside Supper Club in San Francisco (http://www.hillsidesupperclub.com), while enjoying a speaker on chicken coop design and DIY chicken processing.
Price of this field day is $30 for members, $35 for nonmembers, and $5 for children under 17. We are keeping the number of available tickets low to accommodate our tour guides at each respective stop of our trip.
After the event, we are encouraging people to go see Michael Dimock, Dan Imhoff, and David Katz in the forum- What does the Farm Bill have to do with me and why do I need to know about it. This FREE event is sponsored by Slow Food North and is from 4-6 at the Bishop's Ranch, Swing Pavillion, 5297 Westside Rd, Healdsburg. If you would like to attend this event, please RSVP to Linda of Slow Food North at lmcsweyn@aol.com-just so they can get a head count!
Lets flock together for this fun day!
