Ars Perfecta - The Perfect Art of Renaissance Polyphony
The Lakeville CT-based, national award-winning music organization Crescendo presents choral works of the Italian Renaissance composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and some of his contemporaries. The concert is performed by Crescendo's Vocal Ensemble of 24 singers and soloists, directed by Crescendo's founder and artistic director Christine Gevert.
The works include five to eight voice motets by Palestrina, his teacher Orlando di Lasso and Palestrina's students Allegri, Anerio, Giovannelli and Nanini.
Free Pre-concert talks with visual and audio examples will be held by Ms. Gevert on March 5 at 11:30 AM at the Mason Library in Great Barrington, MA and on March 6 at 4 PM at Town Hall (presented by the Scoville Library) in Salisbury, CT
Crescendo's performances are Take Part Culture Card events of the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council.
