Deckle Edge Workshop - Writing & Healing with Ed Madden
About the Workshop:
In this workshop participants will be guided through a series of writing exercises focused on writing about difficult material, drawing on research related to writing and healing. The outcome/product of this workshop will be a better understanding of your own writing process, a basic understanding of possible links between writing and healing, and 1-3 drafts of poems. This workshop is best suited for memoirists, writers of all experience levels, writers who are blocked, and poets.
About the Instructor: Ed Madden is author of four books of poetry--Signals, which won the 2007 SC Poetry Book Prize; Prodigal: Variations; Nest; and Ark, forthcoming in 2016. His chapbook My Father's House was selected for the Seven Kitchens Press Editor's Series. His poems have appeared in Best New Poets 2007, The Book of Irish American Poetry, and in journals such as Prairie Schooner, Crazyhorse, Poetry Ireland Review, Los Angeles Review, and online at The Good Men Project. In January 2015 he was appointed the inaugural poet laureate for the City of Columbia, SC.
