Weaver's Wedding
Chincha-Chancha Cooroo or The Weaver's Wedding is based on a children's story by Upendrakishore Raychaudhuri. It is a classic Bengali animal fable that tells the story of a wily Jackal who arranges the marriage of a foolish, uneducated Weaver to the King's daughter...but it is the Princess who has the last laugh! This fully-sung 70-minute show is presented by an intergenerational cast with side titles. The production has colorful costumes and sets, exciting music, and is enjoyable for all ages.
The composer, Bernard Hughes, and the librettist, William Radice, who translated the original story from Bengali, created this work for the W11 Children's Opera in London in 2006, and NCFO first performed it in 2009.
We would like to offer special thanks to Beanfields Family-Owned Bean and Rice Chips (www.beanfieldssnacks.com) for their sponsorship of this production.
