Universal Design and Meeting the Needs of an Aging Population
Explore the demographic trend of aging in the US and their physical and psychological needs. Baby boomers are more physically active, live healthier lives and have a stronger desire to remain independent than the previous generations. The majority of boomers prefer to age in place, regardless of their physical abilities. There are many laws for accessibility in the US and around the world. Whereas accessibility is a legal mandate universal design has no determined minimum level of compliance. This CEU looks at the 7 Principles of Universal Design and will address how to implement them into practice.
