An Evening Celebrating Nora Poullion
Nora Pouillon is an Austrian chef, restaurateur, and author. She is the owner of Restaurant Nora, famous for its status as Americas first certified organic restaurant. In April 1999, Restaurant Nora received certification from Oregon Tilth, one of the six largest private organic certifiers in the United States, which means that at least 95% of all ingredients must be produced by certified organic farmers, growers, and suppliers. This process led to the USDA developing the standards and guidelines by which organic restaurants become certified. Restaurant Nora is a fine-dining restaurant known for its organic, locally-grown ingredients from the Mid-Atlantic region. In 1979, Restaurant Nora opened its doors on the corner of Florida Avenue and 21st in the Washington, D.C.s DuPont Circle neighborhood. Nora was a founding member of Wholesome Wave national and currently sits on their advisory board.
Join us on March 23 for an evening of delicious, organic bites to celebrate Nora, her memoir, "My Organic Life: How A Pioneering Chef Helped Shape the Way We Eat" and cookbook, "Cooking With Nora." Food will be provided by Radial Cafe and drinks will be provided by Sweetwater Brewing Company.
All ticket sales will directly benefit Wholesome Wave Georgia, who's mission is to strengthen local food communities by empowering networks of farmers to facilitate access to and awareness of healthy food choices.
