SCRAPE
In partnership with the Seattle Youth Symphony, the innovative string ensemble Scrape will perform music by Jim Knapp and Brian Chin.  The Universal Language Project has commissioned Knapp and Chin to create a new sound for Scrape featuring soprano soloist Chérie Hughes.

Scrape is an unconducted string ensemble performing the works of Jim Knapp and various guest composers. Our instrumentation is 15 bowed strings, with harp and electric guitar.

Tonight's Program:

Obamatorio -  A song cycle for Soprano and Scrape.  A musical interpretation of words from President Barack Obama, Brian Chin.

Only Those Who Have Dared is a dance/theatre piece based on an aphorism by Miester Eckhart, the German medieval mystic priest whose teaching resembled Zen Buddhism as much as Roman Catholicism, Jim Knapp.

A Letter is an imagined letter written a year ago to a former student of my wife, Joan Skinner who had inquired about coming to Seattle to resume her studies of Skinner Releasing, Jim Knapp.

Charles Who? is a meditation on Charles Ives The Unanswered Question, Jim Knapp.

Stick around after the show....grab a drink from the bar and chat with the musicians, composers and crew involved with Universal Language!
