Women In Ag for Mentoring & Empowerment World Ag Expo Networking Lunch
THIS WILL BE A NETWORKING EVENT WHERE YOU CAN MEET YOUR FRIENDS WHO ARE ON "MY JOB DEPENDS ON AG" FACEBOOK PAGE, COMING TOGETHER, SHARING EXPERIENCES, AND FELLOWSHIPPING OVER LUNCH.
A new wave of agriculture has arrived and women are filling positions traditionally reserved for men. There are endless career possibilities for women directly and indirectly related to agriculture. Unfortunately, many do not know these opportunities exist, or where to begin.
Women in Agriculture for Mentoring and Empowerment (WAME) seek to bridge the gap between the young professional workforce and industry. By connecting young people in high school and college with mentors we endeavor to guide them in rising to their full potential and make them aware of all of the opportunities which are available to them through agriculture. We provide professional development, networking opportunities, and statistics on career fields for our mentors, members, and guests and seek to aid them in remaining connected through our website, free lectures, social media, and conferences.
Last year a 3 part workshop series, cumulated with the inaugural Common Ground Networking Reception, honoring Mrs. Betty Wynn, at CSU Stanislaus. We reached over 500 promising young people and professionals from Stanislaus and Merced Counties. While learning the importance of networking and seeking mentors, our workshops focused on the basics of a proper resume, introduction, and firm handshake and how to network.
