More about Local Chorus Local Chorus is a privately run chorus for kids aged 5-12 and their parents. We sing a wide repertoire of folk, pop, rock and classical music in one-, two- and three-part arrangements. When possible, we incorporate strings, played by the students, as well as guitar and percussion played by adults and students. Our mission is to bring joy to the community through music and performance.
Repertoire includes "Blowing in the Wind," "Home," "Let It Be," "If I Had a Hammer," "Forever Young" and many many peace rounds.
Local Chorus is a performance group. We will be working hard to learn songs to be performed at various opportunities. This chorus is for kids who want to sing in front of people, and who are willing to work hard in rehearsal. There are no auditions, and Nerissa prizes enthusiasm, good attention and behavior in rehearsal over musical ability. Each ten week session will end with a performance.
More about Nature's Classroom: At Nature's Classroom we give students and teachers the chance to experience education from another perspective, outside the walls of the classroom.
Nature's Classroom is a residential environmental education program, at thirteen wonderful sites in New York and New England. Most schools take advantage of our five-day program, while some decide that a shorter stay will work for them. After spending a week at Nature's Classroom, living and learning together, students develop a sense of community, a confidence in themselves and an appreciation for others that carries over to the school community.
Over 750,000 children and 450 schools have come to view Nature's Classroom as a solid academic experience, with an emphasis on scientific inquiry and critical thinking. We have been recognized for excellence by the National Science Teacher's Association, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the State of Connecticut. We have been offering the very best in environmental education for more than 40 years.
