With a wink to the past, Modern Vaudeville is a new comedy, variety, music and talk show experience featuring the Twin Cities' top performers. In March, the lineup will include comedian Darlene Westgor, bubble mancer and contact juggler Russell Harris, Hip Hop Artist and Beat Boxer Carnage the Executioner and David Harris. The variety show is produced and hosted by Midwest Emmy Award Winning comedian/magician David Harris.
Comedian Darlene Westgor will appear on this show. Don't be fooled by her sugary smile or winning Nick at Nite's Funniest Mom in America Contest this pixie with a pitchfork has a wicked sense of humor and isn't afraid to use it. Topics like garage sales, neighbors, homework, lawn care and little league baseball are all fair game for this foul-mouthed mom at the end of the cul de sac. In addition to an endless amount of clubs, corporate events, and rooms across the U.S., Darlene is a comedy veteran who has made multiple appearances on Nick at Nite, CBS TV's Good Morning America, as well as several local TV shows. Bubble-Mancer, contact juggler, and hoop artist Russell Harris will also grace the stage. A recent Minneapolis transplant, Russell was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, and has been performing since December, 2011. Russell got his start in Richmond's circus art scene performing in a wide variety of venues including: Rising Appalachia and Maharal, the First Annual Virginia Burlesque and Sideshow Festival, Slomski Cabaret, the Party Liberation Front's: Carnival of 5 Fires, Ancient Musings, and Raqs Luminaire, and a year and a half residence at Club Med Resort in Sandpiper Bay, Florida. Russell also taught trapeze at IFly Trapeze, in Long Island, NY and continues to instruct at the Twin Cities Trapeze Center in St. Paul. Russell's love for the circus arts is never-ending and he believes an artist can help a person to not only forget about the sadness in the world for a moment but also be reminded of its beauty. Hip hop artist and beat boxer Terrell Woods A.K.A. Carnage The Executioner will round out this show. Carnage is widely recognized for his mind-numbing lyrical dexterity and uncanny ability to compose musical symphonies with his mouth through human beat boxing. His unwavering work ethic, warm personality and kind heart have earned him the respect of many of Independent and commercial music's most reputable artists. Carnage's mouth has been called "The best drummer in town", in reference to his beat boxing skills. In addition to recording and performing solo, Carnage has appeared and been heard with locally grown Rhymesaysers artists Eyedea and Atmosphere as well as Desdemona. Carnage has shared stages with such heavyweights as KRS-ONE, The RZA, Method Man, Yelawolf, Mobb Deep, Guru of Gangstarr, Too $hort, Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, Brother Ali, R.A. The Rugged Man and many more. About Host David Harris: David Harris is a Midwest Emmy Award Winning comedian/magician who entertains across the U.S. for corporate events, colleges, clubs, and more.
