Lucas, a lawyer with a penchant for mystery writers Agatha Christie, Patricia Highsmith and his dog Sherlock, meets Barbara, an attractive bookish blonde in a bar. The two hit it off but after a night together Lucas awakens to discover that Barbara has disappeared along with $50,000 he was saving for a house.
Lucas is determined to solve the mystery and recoup his cash in this delightful film complete with lively dialogue and what initially had appeared to be a Jewish family comedy.
