Singer-Songwriter Night Friday, February 26, 7:30 (doors open at 7): Cathedral Arts Live presents an evening of music by Jersey City singer-songwriters! Chrissy Roberts, Roland Ramos, and the duo Twiddlin' Thumbs will take the stage for the next live event at Grace Church Van Vorst. Tickets are $10, $15 at the door; wine, beer, and refreshments are available for purchase.
Twiddlin' Thumbs: Twiddlin' Thumbs personify the new wave of the Americana revival. Their original songs combine classic rural themes with modern urban sensibility. Their debut album, "Blowin' Smoke", is a simple yet honest reflection of their marriage of lyrics and melody. It is a modest account of their playful style that includes elements of Americana, Folk, Blues and a drop of Bluegrass.
Chrissy Roberts: Chrissy Roberts is a Hudson County singer songwriter. Self-taught on guitar, she plays a variety of folk, pop and original tunes, Her voice has been described as having "beauty and depth" and she has been likened to Sarah McLachlan and Joni Mitchell by fans. Her most recent CD "Handcrafted" has a variety of original tunes lovingly captured in the studio with cello, harmonies and other accents. She is also the creator of Kid Notes, a CD of learning and movement songs for young children of all abilities. Listen to all her songs on iTunes, Spotify etc. Like her at chrissyrobertsmusic on Facebook! www.chrissyroberts.com
Roland Ramos: Roland Ramos is an Arts Curator and Musician. Much of his songwriting is inspired by his curatorial endeavors. Those curatorial efforts are in turn supported by the sales of his music, completing a beautiful circle. Ramos has worked with a variety of musicians in search of definitive collaborative effort. The title of the Album, "RolandRamosVienna", which features mainly acoustic string instruments such as Guitar, Cello, Mandolin and flute- draws much upon his recent stay in Vienna and Budapest as part of a Art curatorial residency program. Through the intervening years, he has played with a variety of incredible musicians and at a laundry list of incredible venues culminating in the 2012 release of "Anchor Heart".
Doors open at 7 p.m.- get there early for drinks and snacks!
Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
