The 5th annual Dancing with the Bars will be an event modeled after ABC's hit show Dancing with the Stars. Rather than celebrities, the event will bring popular bartenders, bar owners & managers, or personalities who work and socialize in bars together with professional ballroom dance instructors and showcase the art of dance.
This year's all-star cast includes:
Barbra Seville, a local performer who is representing Karamba Dusty Brinsmade, a bartender at Bliss/ReBAR Jonathan Silva, a bartender at FEZ Julie Craig, a local performer who is representing The Rock Katy June, an award-winning famous face in Phoenix Kevin Bushaw, the creative director of IONAZ Magazine Nathan Rhoton, an award-winning famous face in Phoenix representing Apollo's Paula Sha, a local performer who bartends at Pat O's Bunkhouse Pussy LeHoot, a local performer who bartends at Charlie's Travis Edwards, a bartender at Kobalt
Each competitor will be paired with a professional dance instructors and train for a once-in-a-lifetime performance. Leading up to the event, each competitor's progress will be documented for a special video montage that will be played at the finale. At this event, the dancers will showcase their progress and be evaluated by a panel of judges for their chance to win a grand prize and the title of Dancing with the Bars Champions 2012.
A portion of the proceeds from the entire project will be donated to Joshua Tree Feeding Program. The Joshua Tree Feeding Program was started in 1988 to provide a safe environment where people living with HIV/AIDS could come together to share experiences, good food and mutual support. From this humble beginning, they have grown into a well-established organization that serves an ever-increasing membership providing an average of 100 clients with supplemental groceries and pet food at no cost to the people they serve. Joshua Tree Feeding Program, Inc. is an All-Volunteer organization that depends on the generosity of fine people and other organizations who donate their time, food, and financial assistance to the program, and SWAY Events and the competitors of Dancing With The Bars are excited to be raising funds for this worthy organization.
