Mad Regals Winter Madrigal Dinner
Eat, drink, and be merry in fine Renaissance fashion at a grand fundraiser event this February. A hearty multiple course meal and a full program of entertainment will warm up the winter night. There is something for everyone in this 'madrigal dinner' extravaganza, featuring delicious food, sumptuous costumes, beautiful music, hysterical improv comedy, historical trivia, juggling, dance, and more. This dinner event showcases the best of over a millennium of German culture in an amusing, accessible style, imitating feasts in medieval castles of old. Raise a cup of wassail with us!
The concept is simple: 16 royal figures from European history, returning to earth for one night of merry -making. Local vocal group VOX 3 Collective, with lutenist Brandon Acker and other guest musicians, portray some of the most recognizable rulers of Germanic lands (including Charlemagne, Ludwig II, and Maria Theresa Habsburg) as they sing tunes by Morley, Dowland, Senfl, and Lassus. If you enjoy food, music, and comedy, you will have all three in abundance at this not-to-be-missed event.
The "Mad Regals" Dinner is held at 7:00pm on Saturday, February 27. $70 tickets include a seated 3-course dinner and entertainment. 8-person premium seating tables (including 2 bottles of wine) are available for $800. Catering is provided by Himmel's of Chicago. Proceeds support educational and cultural programming at DANK Haus German American Cultural Center.
