Evening @ the Barn: A Tribute to Jack Oakie
Hollywood Heritage Museum will present a tribute to beloved actor and comedian Jack Oakie on June 13, 2012 at 7:30PM.The event will take place in the historic Lasky-DeMille Barn and will cap off this season of the Evening @ the Barn series. Oakie appeared in over 100 movies and television programs over the course of a stellar career that spanned from the early 1920's to the mid-1960's. This unique program will include:
An overview of Oakie's life and career by noted historian David Sonne of the Jack Oakie Foundation. A presentation by District Director Megan Cottier who will discuss the preservation work currently underway at Oakridge, the 11-acre estate in Northridge where Oakie lived with his wife Victoria from 1950 until his passing in 1978.
A special screening of "Hitting a New High" a rare 1937 feature film starring Jack Oakie from the Warner Bros. Archive Collection. Plus, we'll be having our famous $1 raffle and giving away a host of door prizes!
