Free Desiree
It's 1972. Bell bottoms rule, everyone's doing the Philly Dog, and Soul Train comes on every Saturday morning. But instead of enjoying life, Desiree is in crisis mode. When one of Desiree's classmates commits suicide, it wakes her up to her own struggles with self-esteem. And when Hollywood comes calling, her sister Shauna is certain that she's gotten her big break in her life-long goal to become famous. But is she ready for Hollywood? Is Hollywood ready for Shauna? This one-woman play written and performed by Amontaine Aurore, includes music, movement, drama, comedy, and multiple characters. The Seattle Times says of Amontaine Aurore, "Ambitious ... Aurore dances, pantomimes, sings and acts with passion and poignancy." Directed by Tikka Sears.
