Winter 2016 LLCC Luncheon at the San Luis Obispo Country Club
Please join us for a friendly, enjoyable lunch on Friday, March 11 at 12 noon and learn with us about:
"GPS: a USA Gift to Humanity"
Our special guest speaker will be Dr. Bradford Parkinson.
"The Air Force didn't want it, in the beginning. They were forced to fund it. They'd rather have been building airplanes," said Bradford Parkinson, professor of aeronautics and astronautics at Stanford and a former Air Force Colonel who championed the Global Positioning System (GPS) and oversaw its realization in the 1970s.
You will want to come to this luncheon to hear what Dr. Parkinson will tell us about how he and his team designed and developed something we take for granted every day in our lives.
Dr. Parkinson was the Chief Architect for GPS, and led the original advocacy for the GPS system in 1973. Gaining approval, he became the first Director of the GPS Joint Program Office and led the original development of spacecraft, Master Control Station and 8 types of User Equipment.
Patricia Shields (violin) and Darlene Phillips (piano) will be playing musical selections from classical and contemporary composers while you are checking in and being seated.

Please note: LLCC luncheons may vary in price. This is because we are not in control of what the restaurants (those that we can use for a large crowd) charge us. We try to negotiate as best we can, so that we can keep the cost to you low. But what we ask you to pay for our luncheons is always the amount that the restaurant is charging us, and includes all taxes tips and fees.
We look forward to seeing you on March 11!
