Celebrate in the Park
The all ages daytime fete will honor powerful bookends in the Latino community---Manuel Pickett, Director of Teatro Esepejo and Estella Sanchez, Director of The Sol Collective. "We want to express our thanks to Manual Pickett for his thirty years of unwavering commitment to Chicano theater and to Estella Sanchez for her new activist leadership in the Latino arts community. Community building through the arts remains our primary goal," says Marie Acosta, Executive Director of La Raza Galería Posada. Acosta worked closely with Sacramento Parks and Recreation to coordinate the move to Galería's new larger location.
The fundraiser for 2012-13 education programs will feature events for the entire family at a family friendly price of $8 per person, children under 12 are free. The Grand Opening includes a silent auction, art and craft vendors, ballet folklórico & live music.
