Workshop by Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant - Celebrated Indian classical dancer, choreographer, scholar, and TEDtalk speaker, for advanced students of Indian dance, professional dancers and choreographers.

With razor sharp precision and sparkling grace, Ananda performs and teaches the classical dance styles of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. A TED speaker in 2009, Ananda's TED Talk is now ranked as one of 12 Incredible talks on cancer, and as one of five greatest talks by Indians.

Ananda lectures on the many nuances of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, bringing together, the grammar, intricacies, approach and philosophy of both styles. Energetic, dynamic, lively and invigorating are the adjectives used by students, even as they are primed to stretch the boundaries of the idiom of the dance itself.

A deeply engaging teacher, Ananda's dance master classes and workshops, while providing the student with an understanding of the brick and mortar of the choreography itself, concurrently is also like an open source code, that the student can then work upon. Herself hailed as an extraordinary artist for in depth expression or abhinaya, Ananda's classes have been hailed as path-breaking, even as she de-mystifies and makes contemporary, the traditional dance itself.
