Calgary Bach Society Presents: An Italian Baroque Easter
Calgary Bach Society Chorus and Instrumentalists - An Italian Baroque Easter
Experience a variety of sacred choral works for Easter by Italian late-Renaissance and Baroque composers. Hear Allegri's famous Misereri for two choruses featuring heavenly high C's, as well as Palestrina's motet Super flumina Babylonis and the mysterious Prince Carlo Gesualdo's motet O vos omnes. Thrill to the exquisite beauty of Lotti's Crucifixus for 8 voice parts and Domenico Scarlatti's 10 voice part Stabat Mater Dolorosa--both of which are Calgary Bach Society premieres! Lovers of J.S. Bach will also enjoy a selection of famous choruses from the St. John Passion.

"a significant voice in the early music landscape in Western Canada." Stephan Bonfield, Calgary Herald, March 2013 "The choir gave a warm performance. Instrumental sections and ritornelli were really beautiful, and the authenticity of Baroque phrasing and rhetoric was truly remarkable in many places, both chorally and instrumentally."
