The Vampire Rabbit and his curious kin
Crouching above a doorway behind St. Nicholas' Cathedral is the small sculpture of a bunny so inexplicably fierce that it has become known as The Vampire Rabbit. Here, in seasonal honour of the Easter Bunny, Gail-Nina Anderson explores the strange traditions concerning rabbits and hares in folklore, religion and art, and speculates as to why Newcastle should have found itself with such a ferocious specimen.
This lecture will take place in the Great Hall of the Castle Keep. Please note: The Great Hall of the Castle Keep is unfortunately inaccessible to wheelchair users.
