KALW Presents: Kamau Right Now!
The Bay Area's own, comedian W. Kamau Bell, is back to being his "Totally Biased" self in Kamau, Right Now!, a live talk show series that's broadcast on KALW (91.7FM). Kamau aims to create a "three ring circus of relevance" as he and his guests try to figure out what is going on right now. There will be provocative conversation. There will be respectful debates. There will be much laughter (and probably a few hugs, too). About W. Kamau Bell: The New York Times calls W. Kamau Bell "the most promising new talent in political comedy in many years." Kamau has recently been announced as the host of CNN's upcoming travel show, The United Shades of America, and is best known for his critically acclaimed, but criminally short-lived FX comedy series, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. A Morgan Spurlock directed comedy special will air on Showtime later this year. He's also proud to be the ACLU's Ambassador of Racial Justice, although he's pretty upset they didn't give him a badge along with the title. Kamau has been a guest on WTF with Marc Maron, The Rachel Maddow Show, Real Time with Bill Maher, The View, and Fresh Air. And you may have heard him on This American Life earlier this year, telling the story of his experience of racism at the Elmwood Café in his new hometown of Berkeley.
KALW (91.7 fm and kalw.org) is a pioneer educational station about to celebrate 75 years on the air, making it the oldest non-commercial FM signal west of the Mississippi. The station is a proud NPR-affiliate as well as host and incubator for numerous news, culture, music, and community programs such as the award-winning local newsmagazine Crosscurrents, the design podcast 99% Invisible, and the Spanish-language narrative journalism program Radio Ambulante.
