WHY: The most widely read poet in the United States over the last several decades, Rumi has spoken deeply to people in every spiritual tradition as well as to those free-lance seekers forging their own distinctive paths. His timeless, universal and inclusive vision resonates with all who long to connect with that "something more" that lies both beyond and within. As translator and Sufi teacher Kabir Helminski puts it: "Rumi is able to put into words the yearning of our souls and so make it comprehensible to our minds." RUMI ON STAGE uses many of the theatrical arts, storytelling and poetry, music and dance, masks and puppets, sound and light to bring Rumi's vision to the stage in Santa Cruz.
