Songwriting Workshop with Kirsty Law
Borders-born Kirsty Law has grown up learning traditional songs, mainly in the Scots dialect, and her own poetry and songwriting are inspired by the ideas and forms she finds within the tradition. Kirsty has collaborated on a range of arts projects, working with other musicians, visual artists and poets and her debut album Shift was released in December 2014. She has a wonderful approach to writing and her songs respect the tradition whilst still retaining a unique voice full of experimentation and beauty. We are delighted to invite Kirsty to deliver our first ever songwriting workshop at CoastWord which will be held at the Secret CoastWord Annexe. Open to all levels of experience, the workshop will explore the ability to tell stories, paint characters and evoke place in song. Availability is limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
"Beautiful and feisty... it's a joy to hear a young singer and writer in Scots with such earthy and conversational character to her singing and songs... a young musician doing things her own way." - Karine Polwart
