The featured subject at our January 28th CSI San Diego Chapter dinner meeting will be a presentation of the largest San Diego Zoo construction project ever commissioned. The project Exhibit is called "Africa Rocks" and involves many African creatures on this 16-acre site. This project involves many new buildings and creates extensive new pathways and landscape features. RT Lonsdale with Miller Hull architects will be presenting details about this project, process and unique challenges encountered throughout the design phase.
Africa Rocks! is a transformation of the existing Dog & Cat Canyon based on the Interpretation of a unique series of habitats on the African continent. The geology of Africa is dramatically revealed and becomes the foundation for a diverse collection of habitats and the species that have evolved with them. Leopards, African penguins, Lemurs, Baboons, Sharks, Monkeys, Birds and many more animals will live in habitats that resemble their native homeland. Seen as the root cause of Earth's changing and diverse landscapes, seascapes and their associated climates, tectonics are the driving force for the evolutionary development of wildlife. Africa Rocks! will immerse visitors in dramatic landscapes they are not familiar with, stretch their perceptions of what Africa looks like and amaze visitors with the species that inhabit them.

SD CHAPTER PROFESSIONAL MEMBERS: No charge will be assessed unless registering after the 3:00 PM Monday, January 25th deadline.
SD CHAPTER EMERGING PROFESSIONAL, EMERITUS, AND RETIRED MEMBERS; NON-MEMBERS; AND STUDENTS: If you wish to pay by check, please send an email to admin@sandiegocsi.org and follow up with your check, made payable to "CSI San Diego," to PO Box 191307, San Diego, CA 92159-1307. Payments must be received no later than Monday, January 25th or a $10 premium will apply.
WALK-INS accepted at the door on a "space available" basis with cash, check and credit card payments.
CANCELLATIONS: Refunds will only be given for cancellations received before noon on Monday, January 25th.
NO SHOWS: Payments for no-shows will be retained in full.
