Inherit the Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee presented by Verse and Vodka Theater.
A teacher goes on trial for teaching evolution in school. It happened in 1925 in Tennessee at the Scopes Monkey Trial. Thirty years later, this play based on the trial debuted. It was written as a statement in support of intellectual freedom and against McCarthyism. With humor and soaring speeches, some drawn from the trial itself, the play captures a time in American history that we seem destined to repeat.
Our shows are performed semi-staged with scripts in hand and actors moving among the audience. The bar opens at 7:00 pm, one hour before the play starts (at 8:00 pm), so bring your dinner and make a night of it. Stay after the show to mingle with the cast and your friends until we shut the place down at 11:00 pm.
Buy 8 tickets in advance, and we'll reserve a table for your party so you're guaranteed seats together. Online ticket sales end at 2 pm on the day of the show, but ticket availability at the door will be posted on our website (www.verseandvodka.com).
