Songwriters on Stage
Each month, the Maine Songwriter's Association presents Songwriters on Stage, a showcase of some of the best songwriters Maine has to offer. The show features three seasoned performers and an emerging songwriter to kick the evening off. It's an opportunity for listeners to discover new music or come hear local favorites in one of the best listening rooms in Maine. The January concert features Ronda Dale, Giff Jamison, Stan Davis, and emerging songwriter, Brian Kavanah.
Ronda Dale
Ronda Dale loves singing and connecting with audiences. Her heartfelt original songs are full of humor, passion and depth. She's been inspired by a wide range of artists past and present, from Patsy Cline, Dinah Washington and Willie Dixon to Gillian Welch, Tom Waits and Bonnie Raitt. Originally from Virginia, Ronda has been living in beautiful southern coastal Maine since 2000. (more info rondadale.com)
Giff Jamison
Originally from Minnesota and now a Maine-based songwriter and performer, Giff's playing draws from folk, jazz and rock influences but his roots are country blues and finger style guitar. Empty prairies, slow rolling rivers, and lost travelers all find a place somewhere in his music. He is a 4-time finalist at the New England Songwriters Contest, and in 2013 released Ramone, a CD of 11 self-penned songs recorded at Frog Hollow Studio in Brunswick. Stan Davis
Stan Davis plays and sings a mix of traditional and original songs- from the blues to lyrical hymns about modern country life; from songs about reincarnation and grandchildren to love songs of all kinds. He weaves storytelling, beautiful intricate guitar playing, and evocative lyrics full of poetic imagery. A CD of his songs, Step To The Music You Hear, was released in 2014. Brian Kavanah
Brian Kavanah from Readfield has been playing for several years in the acoustic duo Hurry Down Sunshine with his musical partner Stan Davis. Relatively new to songwriting, he has been recently working on a series of songs inspired by the images of the great photographer Robert Frank that tell the tales of desperation, hope, and love found and lost.
