Our National Museum of the Unforeseen Tragedy by Renee Calarco: The Revival
It's 2027. The United States is still recovering from a devastating, yet oddly familiar event that nobody saw coming. Out of the ashes of the tragedy rises a memorial museum--The Museum of the Unforeseen--dedicated to preserving the memories of the day when everything changed.
Renee Calarco's OUR NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE UNFORESEEN TRAGEDY is an immersive theater piece that memorializes and explains "The American Spring," a series of national uprisings and protests that were figuratively--and literally--ignited by a Christian separatist suicide bomber who blew himself up on the National Mall on April 14, 2017--Good Friday. Part performance piece, part exhibit, Museum asks us to consider the politics of memory and national identity.
This Revival will offer a second glimpse into MUSEUM, including a tour of the museum, a reading of the newest draft, and a reception. Join us!
The cast of MUSEUM includes Elliott Bales, Lolita Clayton, Maboud Ebrahimzadeh*, Jonathan Feuer*, Stan Kang, Elizabeth Kitsos-Kang*, Karen Lange, and Nate Shelton.
