Merlefest on the Road Concert Tour
The Blue Ridge Music Center (BRMC) and the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) present "Merlefest on The Road" a preview concert for the upcoming Merlefest and featuring Tellico (Asheville, NC), High Plains Jamboree (Austin, TX), and Zoe & Cloyd (Asheville, NC).
Tellico is firmly planted in Asheville NC's thriving roots music scene, Tellico is well schooled in bluegrass but with an unbridled organic "Appalachiacana" sound, combining some of the finest voices, songs and instrumental prowess in western North Carolina and beyond.
With roots in northern bluegrass and southern troubadour country, Austin, Texas based High Plains Jamboree weave a beautiful tapestry of homespun lyrics, instrumentation and high lonesome harmonies.
John Cloyd Miller is a twelfth generation North Carolina native and the grandson of pioneering bluegrass fiddler Jim Shumate. John's foundation in traditional bluegrass and old-time Appalachian music coupled with his modern sensibility make him a natural musician and performer. John is a 1st place winner of the prestigious Merlefest Chris Austin Songwriting Contest and a recipient of an Artist Fellowship for songwriting by the North Carolina Arts Council.
Natalya Zoe Weinstein also comes from a musical family: her father is master jazz pianist and her grandfather was a professional klezmer musician. She is an accomplished fiddler in a variety of styles as well as an inspiring singer and songwriter.
