Syria 5-Year, Part 1: Five Years of Upheaval: Where Are They Now?
Five years after the start of the Syrian civil war, more than 4.2 million Syrian refugees have fled the country and more than half are under 18. Join us for the first part of this in-depth, two-part lecture series to better understand the ongoing conflict and the long-term implications for the global community.
Born and raised in Syria and a visiting fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Middle East Center, Dr. Omar Dahi is an associate professor of economics at Hampshire College. Dahi provides insight into how Syrians are processing their country's transformation and a framework for a peaceful future.
The second part of this series will take place on March 22. You'll hear from former UNICEF Child Protection Specialist and current Mercy Corps Youth Director, Jane MacPhail, who will provide information on the organizational approach and focus on supporting a generation growing up in refugee communities.
